Chapter “O” will be celebrating its 23rd birthday this year. Yes, it all started on April 12th, 1990 when 10 couples met at Isabell’s Restaurant in Lake St. Louis……"The weather was very bad for the first kick off meeting, and even though the attendance was small, we had a lot of fun. Our only visitors were several members from Chapter ‘J’".
An auction was held to raise a little money to operate from. Charter members of Chapter “O” included Steve & Donna Shaff, Jesse & Alice Freeman, John & Norma Rennel, Richard & Louise Burton, Louis & Barb Rickard, Charles & Eva Jordon, Dave & Celia Cook, Don & Fran Walters, Les & Kim Turner, Elton & Noma Carroll, Bill Miller & Joyce Rose, Nick & Deb Millich and Bill & Kathy Odle.
Our first area Rep’s were Steve & Donna Shaff. After
a few months Steve stepped down due to business reasons and Jesse &
Alice Freeman took the reigns with Richard & Louise Burton
taking their place. Chapter Directors since have included Bill & Joyce
Miller, Jim & Judy Schwent, Jack & Candy Vogel, Allen &
Debby Biddlingmeier, Steve & Patricia Hames, Tom & Bev
Richardson, Cathey & Pete Wright, Joe & Joyce Long, and
currently Gene & Karen Kaufmann.

So where did we come from? Well, it all started with St. Louis Chapter “C”, which eventually spawned Chapter “A” in North St. Louis County. Desires to create a chapter in St. Charles prompted the creation of Chapter “O” from Chapter “A”. Several of the above mentioned “charter members” were also “charter members” of Chapter ‘A’. Chapter ‘O’ got large enough to have a group split to form Chapter ‘W2’. That brings us up to date on the start of Chapter ‘O’. Chapters are designed to make participation as much fun as possible. This organization is no different than life itself…..you get out of it what you put into it!
